Update from the farm...

I'm soooooo far behind on everything and anything these days! Briefly, the facts are these:

1) We're still working on the bathroom. The new (again!) counter/sink was delivered, and this time it is all in one piece, so The Farmer is going to install that tomorrow if all goes well.

2) The place is awash with blooms. There are azaleas blooming, and also coral bells, ajuga, iris, lenten rose, tea roses, tiarella, honeysuckle, geraniums, and all kinds of wild flowers. I have clematis vines blooming in purples, blue, variegated and white.

This particular clematis is on a fence alongside the yard. The blooms are about 6" across.

3. We've got a new occupant in our pond, a great big turtle. That's okay until The Farmer decides to stock the pond with fish. We don't want to buy sushi for the turtle, but for now he can subsist very nicely on frogs and tadpoles. We have a bazillion of those, ha!

4. I still haven't got the sheep shorn. Note to self... set a date SOON!

5. I've also been trying to give away 3 roosters. No luck. They're tearing the feathers off the backs of the hens. They need to go one way or another.

That's the short version. I just don't have time to write about everything that is going on right now. Why? Well, I'm taking a 6-week class, and it is INTENSE. I barely have time to keep up with regular chores, let alone any extras.

So if my posts are sparse, you'll know why!

Once in a while a fish with a bite out of it will be floating on the pond. That's when we know the snapping turtle didn't quite make his target.

White blooms don't usually impress me, but your clematis is gorgeous!

Could you place an ad on your feed store board for the roosters. Even giving them away is better than having them harass the hens to death. I'm surprised they aren't tearing each other up, also.

Wait - what class are you taking?
Love your clematis!! I can't believe yours are in full bloom already. I have a purple one that has just barely begun to form buds.

I actually found a site the other day that makes something called "chicken saddles" for hens so that the roosters won't rip the feathers off their backs. I didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified. Interesting concept, though. :-)

Robin- Train your turtle. (bg)

CeeCee- I like white blooms for night gardens. I've been known to wander around outside at night when the pain is keeping me awake.

Farmgirl- Chicken saddles! I can just imagine how thrilled my hens would be... NOT!

As for the class, it's on Listbuilding and Internet Marketing. My brain is fried.

You haven't heard of the chicken saddles, eh? I laughed so hard the first time I saw one...here you go: http://www.mbldesigns.com/chicken_aprons.html

Listbuilding and Internet Marketing! Wow - you've got plans you haven't been sharing with us, don't you? ;-)

Oh my, that is sooooo funny! And a tad on the expensive side I'm thinking! But how cool. Wonder what the chickens would think of wearing them???

Yeah, I haven't mentioned my course much on this one. Mostly talk about it on my personal blog.
